Features
EZ-Net provides you or your business with direct
Internet connectivity using the Point to Point Protocol (PPP) over high
speed modems. This type of connection gives you the ability to access the
features of the Internet using graphical Internet applications. You will
have access to the following Internet resources:
- Filtering - for just an additional
$3 per month, you can have the peace of mind that your children aren't
getting into things that they shouldn't be looking at. Our filtering
service eliminates 99% of all objectionable material on the Internet
today. More information...
- Usenet News is a large collection
of worldwide news groups that carry discussions on an extremely wide
range of subjects. We currently have more than 100,000+ news
groups on-line where you can partake in discussions with other Internet
users worldwide.
- Electronic Mail is becoming the
fastest growing method of communication. It allows you to conveniently
communicate with other people regardless of their location. With our
Internet connection, you can reach users at thousands of sites including
CompuServe, America On-line, Prodigy, and many more.
- Telnet allows you to connect
to other systems on the Internet and utilize a variety of services provided
by those sites. For example, you telnet to the Library of Congress to
use the electronic card catalogs or telnet to an Internet site you have
an account on.
- FTP stands for 'File Transfer
Protocol'. It is the method that carries out most of the file transfers
on the Internet. You use FTP to access large software archives at universities,
research centers, companies, and many other sites including our own.
- The World Wide Web is the newest
and most exciting tool on the Internet. You can search out and find
information that incorporates images, sound, and text. Using a program
called a browser (such as Netscape), you can "surf' the Internet and
easily point and click your way around the world.
- IRC stands for 'Internet Relay
Chat'. It allows you to chat with users from other sites on the Internet.
IRC provides you with 'channels' that carry different discussion topics.
Typically you'll find over 500 channels with over 1,000 people chatting
in these channels at one time!
