White aims right at the Black king's forecourt, opening up options of sacrifices at c6 or f5. Kingside castling and a rapid advance of the f-pawn are common. Black will operate on the queenside, usually advancing the b-pawn to b5. The knight at b8 can be deployed at c6 or at d7 and later at c5.
