Hi John. I did about two hours of study yesterday before playing my nightly game, and wouldn't you know it, I dominated. I achieved my highest FICS rating yet at(1304; its not GM level of course, but I was excited and the most exciting part was I knew why I played well. Most of the time, my wins came from a terrible opponent blunder. This one came from a solidly executed plan that I commanded from start to finish. I played for a superior pawn structure and no glaring material differences (Using your point count style of play in your training materials) and the last twenty moves my opponent was helpless against the queening of one of my pawns, costing him or her the rook that was keeping them in the game. Then instead of playing like a patzer and running another pawn down, I used two pawns and my rook to deliver the mate.

If i got results like this after the first day of study I cannot imagine what is to come with months and even a year of dedicated study. I cannot thank you enough my friend for allowing me this opportunity.. I am now fully confident that I can be a productive member of this team, if I apply myself.

By The Way, your discussions of Understanding the Openings are bar none the best resource I have found on openings to date. You should be very proud of the effort you put into those study materials and I am very grateful that I am privy to the gems they offer.
