I am looking for a very few select people to become privileged to be part of my administration team in a new project I am forming. I need people with above average chess skills, and people with good personalities that will serve as leaders to guide others in this group, providing them with motivation and guidance towards their improvement.

People who can be trusted to use good judgement in the selection of others who may want to become members of this project. Only people who are interested in helping others and are motivated to learn will be considered to join in this project, both as members and as administration people. The prime consideration in the selection of other members is not how well they can play chess or how strong their motivation and desire to increase their chess skills are.

The prime consideration in their acceptance will be how well they will be behaving as team members. Just as in a basketball team each team member must pull his weight or the team will fail as a whole. So shall it be here. Each member will be expected to cooperate in helping his team members to succeed. Each member will be expected to learn and specialize in a specific area of chess and pass on his skills to the others.

Each member will be expected to give encouragement and be helpful in any way they can to ensure the success of his teammates. What is success? Success is the slow and steady progress of increasing chess skills above and beyond what that person would have achieved if he had not joined this club. It will be up to the administration team to choose wisely, prudently and cautiously to choose only those people that will be an asset to the group towards these ends.

Finding these types of individuals may be a near impossible task being that chess is such a competitive game, but the challenge can be a worthwhile task if we can find a few good people to become loyal and dedicated members. We are in no hurry to increase our membership. On the contrary we shall be more than happy with just a small number of quality, select people that will make this club a joy to belong to. Will others accuse us of being discriminating? You bet they will! But if they don’t measure up we don’t want them.

You must possess leadership skills and those qualities insofar that others will respect you as a person who has the empathy and the capacity for helping others to improve in their chess skills. That is the main purpose of this project, helping others just as you would want to be helped in improving your chess skills. As part of the administration team you will be expected to be a team captain at times and lead the group in team play for their selection of the plays in competitive team games.

I also expect the admin team to be somewhat of a nag, insofar as they will also become taskmasters. No one in our club should be sitting on their hands when there is so much to do. There should be constant activity if any learning is to take place. It will be the admins job to use their imagination to keep our membership occupied with constructive tasks. Remember the old adage about how the teacher learns from his students, so should you be learning from our members as how to make this club a interesting place to come to.

Our team play will consists of members who are semi-skilled players, who are each learning to specialize in some basic, specific chess skill, just as you will be expected to do also. Our chess teams should strive to earn the respect from others that we are a group of chess players to be taken very seriously.

Another one of your duties will be to recruit new members to increase our membership of quality people in this club.

You may also have to reprimand members at times.

This could be a very challenging job, are you up to this kind of challenge? Do you have the courage to tackle such a task?

NOTE: Please do not accept this invitation if you are not sincere or feel you may have to leave in a few months for lack of time to devote to your duties or lack of interest. Doing this would seriously harm the integrity of our club and place serious doubts with all the members as to why you joined in the first place if you did not intend to stick it out and try to make our club a success. This action will not go unnoticed and it also goes with out saying that our membership would not look to kindly upon such a person who did this and would probably suggest that he spend the rest of his life in a dark cave. So please take your time, think it over and be sure this is really what you want to do.
